The current WST Science Team include more that 500 scientists from 33 different countries covering the wide range of science that this new facility will be tackling. The Science Team plays a key role in providing the science driven requirements for WST.
The
Science Team has recently published a comprehensive description of the
transformational science cases that this new facility will tackle in the form
of a WST Science White Paper.
We are in a very exciting phase of the project and we encourage you to get involved by filling in the form at this URL. We are very keen to enlarge the science team and benefit from your expertise to cover the wide range of scientific topics that a facility like WST will be able to address.
The Science Team is led by the project scientist, Vincenzo Mainieri, and it is currently organised in four working groups:
- Time domain (led by Richard I. Anderson, Cyrielle Opitom, Paula Sanchez Saez)
- Galactic (led by Vanessa Hill, Rodolfo Smiljanic, Eline Tolstoy)
- Extra-galactic (led by Jarle Brinchmann, Richard Ellis)
- Cosmology (led by Andrea Cimatti, Jean-Paul Kneib)
